Interview with Archie Kennedy

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Actually, "Yakima Nights is the first story I ever wrote. I had other stories that I never finished. So, I decided to stop procrastinating and see this story to the end.
What is your writing process?
I have none. I actually get the urge to write and I just go at it. I feel like that is my super power sort of. I can knock out a short story within 2 minutes if I want too.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, It was a set of short stories by the author O Henry. I was around 8 or 9 when I first started reading his work. I always admired him and his style of writing.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle Fire
Describe your desk
I don't have one. The world is my desk. I could be sitting at a bus stop and if I get a idea I will starting writing on my hand if need be.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. Its a very dangerous city and it made me hate the urban culture. So, in my short stories I rarely talk about city themes. However, in my short story trilogy "Dealing With Smoke", I do incorporate some of the things I learn in Norfolk.
When did you first start writing?
What's the story behind your latest book?
Well I'm working on a story called "Chasing Nicole", I wont give to much away, but my muse in this story was a female in the United States Army I use to work with.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I needed something to help with my PSTD and I felt creating my own world would help.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The freedom of creating and controlling a situation.
What are you working on next?
Two stories "Chasing Nicole" and "Dealing With Smoke Part 3".
