Interview with Alethea Spiridon

Describe your desk
Organized! I can't think with a messy desk.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up all over Canada. Had little influence on my writing. Relationships have influenced my writing...
When did you first start writing?
When I was seven. I've always been writing.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Well, after my marriage fell apart I realized I'd have to start dating again, so I went online and poked around and then fell down the rabbit hole so to speak, and realized what a shit-show it was. So I decided not long after that to go in like an investigative journalist and see what dating and men and online dating were like today, and then report back for other women. I wish I'd had a guide like this before I started because it would have saved me a lot of time and energy! This is about what I saw and experienced and the lessons I learned. Not the gospel according to Alethea, but a heads-up for you to do with as you like. If anything, you'll get a few laughs out of my tales of trial and dating tribulations.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted full control over the process. I work in publishing; I know how it goes, how long it takes, and how your idea can get edited down to but a fraction of what you originally envisioned. I didn't want that happening and I was impatient.
