Interview with Allison P. Lowery

What do your fans mean to you?
A lot, I love them, with out them I wouldn't be possible. I know it sounds hokey, but it's true; what is an author with out readers
What are you working on next?
I have a kids cookbook in the works, cookbook for men only, and two more romance novels
Who are your favorite authors?
Joanna Lindsey, and Andrew Butcher
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My Kids
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend time with my kids, and I ride motorcycles with my motorcycle club First Ladyz
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I go online and I get suggestions from friends and family
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes it was a kids book I'm thinking of publishing
What is your writing process?
I know people want me to say I sit down and have a specific process and then I begin to write. I am sorry I don't work like that, I actually have dreams about topics and they become my stories
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It was an old book. The book was called Captive Bride by Joanna Lindsey, when I first read it. I thought "I want to write like her and be like her."
How do you approach cover design?
I look at the book as a whole and then I look at what I want the cover to convey to the potential reader.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My phone
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Word of Mouth and emails
Describe your desk
My bed
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in North Carolina, and where I grew up was country and farms, I remember when we first started getting public transportation the bus cost me $.25 to ride. Not like it is today, so with not much to do or a way to get around, I fell in love with books.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I wanted my book done my way, without someone chopping it up and turning it into a whole different book
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Just writing in general, I do it for the love not the money. Writing books is something few people get rich from, and I am ok with that. I'm happy to have my books out in the world
