Interview with Amanda Darcy
What do you read for pleasure?
I generally read thrillers, mysteries and occasionally supernatural themed books (not vampires!).
What is your e-reading device of choice?
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
It's early days for marketing my first book, "The Curious Prophecy of Birds" but word of mouth is proving to be effective in the early stages. Getting good reviews is so important.
Describe your desk
When did you first start writing?
When I was about three. At School.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Eating, drinking, cooking, cycling, fretting about not writing.
What is your writing process?
Have a vague idea, sit down, write. See what happens. Repeat the process until something good comes out.
How do you approach cover design?
I am a photographer as well as a writer so I am interested in designing my own covers. That said, the front cover of "The Curious Prophecy of Birds" was not done by me.
What are you working on next?
Next will be a gritty thriller, nothing to do with folklore of mythology, although I am sure I will return to those topics soon.
