Interview with Amber Ethridge

Published 2017-11-12.
What do you read for pleasure?
My go to is and always will be Harry Potter. When the first Harry Potter book was released, it helped me through a very dark period of life. I could escape the real world and go to Hogwarts and just hide away from everything.
Describe your desk
My desk as of the moment is a cheap Big Lots desk. It has my laptop, keyboard, mouse, and a cup of pens on it....thats all that will fit. I do have a book shelf near it, though, with all my books.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a multitude of places. My mom was a single mom and we grew up rough. Sometimes, we didn't have food to eat or heat in the house. There was one time, we didn't have heat or electricity.... so my mom, a writer, burned her original copies of some of her work in order to boil water for baths. This has been about 18 years since that happened, but I can still remember to this day her face. This pushed me to write and publish.
When did you first start writing?
I have been writing since I could pick up a pencil. I have always wrote short stories. Currently working on a novel....
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book that has been published: I went through a horrible break up. I'm talking leaving me after planning a wedding and dishing out money horrible. So I just wrote my feelings, hence the title: Despaired Darlings.

My latest book that is in the works: I have always loved fantasy books. So, I'm creating my own realm and introducing fairies into Young Adult fiction more than ever before.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy that writing brings to me, is the way it can let me escape. I can sit and write and just be at peace.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean everything to me. They are what drive me to publish my art.
