Interview with Amber Shanel

What is your writing process?
Usually, well, after I get some type of inspiration I immediately began to outline. Outlining for me is simply thinking of different plots and then going chapter by chapter; jotting down the key points in each.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes, omg. I actually look back on that story and think how far I've came along. It's very humbling.
How do you approach cover design?
I think of my story.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Obsessed By Treasure Hernandez. It was the first Urban book I read and I fell in love with the genre.
She Been With Me From The Bottom by A'shanti, a series, but it is well worth the read.
There are so many more, I couldn't choose.
What do you read for pleasure?
Anything Urban and/or Street Lit!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My phone, lol.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Promoting on Facebook is definitely a huge help.
Describe your desk
My desk is wherever my laptop is and most of the time it's on my lap.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Durham NC is where I grew up and honestly, the crime has influence simply because there is a lot of it. The crime has actually gave me inspiration for some of my writing.
When did you first start writing?
When I was 15.
Do you hope to become a bestselling author?
Of course, but then again if it doesn't happen I am very pleased with my progress thus far.
