Interview with A. M. Forney

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Writing poetry is very therapeutic for me. I truly enjoy it. My work comes to me very quickly and easily. I do not typically have to put much thought into what I write as far as poetry. It is truly my brain, heart and feelings, overflowing onto paper or, onto your electronic device screen ;)
What do your fans mean to you?
So much! Seeing that my work is being purchased makes me feel truly happy. Without people supporting us, we wouldn’t be able to be doing what we love.
What are you working on next?
I’m always working on poems, since they’re easily constructed in my mind. I think I am going to either go back and re-do/edit a very short story I had written months ago or maybe start a totally different novel. Time will tell.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My children. My son is 15 months and my daughter is due in March!
What are your five favorite books?
“In a Dark Dark Wood” - Ruth Ware
“Bring Her Home” - David Bell
“Mr. Mercedes” - Stephen King
“Cracked” - K. M. Walton
“The Diviners” - Libba Bray
What do you read for pleasure?
Psychological thrillers, mysteries, thrillers
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Pennsylvania, where I still reside. I feel that my childhood definitely influenced my writing because of some of the traumas I was forced to endure. The dark times I went through have made me into a better writer, I believe.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With my family or working out.
What is your writing process?
I don’t usually have the same, set process. I write anywhere. I scribble down notes in a notebook I have or I store thoughts in my phone notes. Once I am ready to put the thoughts into form, I sit down with my laptop at home, usually with a cup of coffee, and I type away.
How do you approach cover design?
My husband has been doing my covers for my ebooks, thus far. I am hoping that he can still work on them for me when I decide to go to print copies of my work.
