Interview with Amy Benton

When did you first start writing?
I've always enjoyed writing, it's been a part of my life for as long as I remember. The first story I actually remember properly was one I wrote when I was around six years old about a park ranger and it ended up being about six full A4 sheets of paper long... quite an achievement for a little girl! I also used to have a typewriter of my own when I was very small which I loved to use; I was always doing little bits of writing and stories.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I think it's reaching word counts. I always feel quite accomplished when I hit high word counts with my writing. I like making goals for my writing as it gives me something to aim for.
What do you read for pleasure?
I generally read fantasy stories or thriller/crime stories, but my favourite books to read are the Harry Potter books; I've read them over and over and I don't get bored of them!
