When did you first start writing?
After many false starts, I began writing in 2003.
What's the story behind your latest book?
To a certain extent it is my story, growing up in Kerala in the forties and fifties, fictionalised.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Fascination with words and a varied and surprising life.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I am waiting to find out.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Translating a picture in my mind to words.
What do your fans mean to you?
They make it worth while. Without readers, my words would mean nothing.
What are you working on next?
A memoir. A very selective one.
Who are your favorite authors?
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Le Carre.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My cats and my granddaughter who come looking for me there.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, gardening, cooking, talking...
