Interview with Andrew Hubbert

What do you read for pleasure?
I read a lot of spy fiction, CIA, MI6 I love it all! I love thrillers and especially love books by Robert Muchamore.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use Kindle. I had a original Kindle for a while but have now upgraded to a Kindle paperwhite
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
This definitely isn't a good question for me! I hate marketing my work! I always feel like I'm pushing it in people's faces but I have used Facebook groups to get amazon reviews before. Not the silly ones where people don't actually read your book (what's the point?!) the ones where you give away free copies for a review. This has worked quite well. I also have a really supportive bunch of friends who love my work and ready it all for me so that's a good way to get it out there as they promote it though word of mouth
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Alsager which is a quite isolated little town in Cheshire. It;s been a great influence on my writing as quite often I use places from Alsager or the surrounding area as a setting for my books
When did you first start writing?
I first started properly writing this year (2014) it's been a heck of a journey so far which has lead me to publish my first book Cancer: We Beat You which is the true story of me battling school and my mum having cancer
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story is life. Cringe, I know but it's about my teenage years. I was going through my GCSE's when my mum had Cancer and it had a big impact on me. I only really realised this impact years later and this is my way of healing and telling my story
