Interview with Angela Snyder

Published 2017-05-18.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors would be Charlaine Harris, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Dan Brown and Emily Brontë. Each one is unique in their writing style, but I can read mountains upon mountains of books written by every one of them.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually word of mouth. As an author, I have the privilege of being friends with a lot of fellow writers on Facebook and Twitter. Whenever I see an e-book that interests me, I buy it up. I devour books, so I tend to read one book after another and so on. I will always pick up a book based on a friend's recommendation, but I would say the majority of the books I find are from social media.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. In fact, I am still working on it to this day. I started my first book when I was fifteen. It's a vampire novel, and one day I know it will be my masterpiece, so to speak.
What is your writing process?
My writing process is very atypical. I have a method I like to call the jigsaw method. I basically have folders on my computer with hundreds of documents in each folder with different parts of the book in each document. Somehow, in the end, they all wind up making sense in the form of a novel. Another major part of my writing process would be music. I cannot write without music. I usually tend to listen to something melancholy such as Lana Del Rey. I can put her music on repeat and write for hours.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love to read romance, paranormal romance, mystery, thriller and just about everything under the sun. I am definitely not picky when it comes to a book. As long as it's thrilling and draws me in, I will read it.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My e-reading device of choice would have to be Kindle. I have the Kindle app on my iPhone, and I put a ton of books on there to read in case I forget to bring my Kindle somewhere.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Definitely social media. I have Twitter and Facebook accounts, which I use on a daily basis. I love to interact with people who have read my books. Social media is a great way to get your book out there and market it to millions of potential buyers.
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing as soon as I was able to hold a pencil. I can remember writing songs as a child and writing entire school plays by the time I was in fifth grade. I always had a love for books, and I think people who read make the best writers. I always wanted to be a writer. That was my ultimate dream. And when I self-published my first book, I felt like my dream had come true. I want to continue to write and hopefully get published with a big company some day. That would be another ultimate dream of mine that would be fulfilled.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing to me is when someone contacts me through social media and says that they stayed up all night reading my book and that they couldn't put it down. As a writer, I think that is the best compliment you could ever get. When someone gets entangled and drawn into the world that you have created, there is nothing greater than that.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean the world to me. I have amassed a following on Twitter, and I have people who are very supporting and RT and like a lot of my tweets. They encourage me to write. They ask about my next projects and tell me they can't wait for the next book. They are the reason I am writing right now. I want to make something great that they will enjoy.
