Interview with Anil Pathak
Published 2014-03-20.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I wrote this book from the notes I created and used to teach my students in Singapore. I have shared my ideas about the communication process with a number of my colleagues and they provided me very useful feedback. This topic is rather theoretical, and I wanted to make it interesting by including examples and giving my students some exercises in the class. All of my class materials are included in this book.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I think it is the feeling of being useful and providing some enlightenment to people. The medium and the technology helps the writer to touch lives of people across boundaries - the sheer feeling of this power brings me the greatest joy!
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans could be anybody who read my books and found them noteworthy. If they write to me and express their feelings or reactions to the ideas, that's icing on the cake!
What are you working on next?
I am about to finish a series of 8 short books entitled 'Fundamentals of Effective Communication'. Next, I shall be focusing on a project called 'Grandma's stories' which used a fiction format to communicate some hard truths of life. I am currently sharing some portions of this project on Facebook and Wattpad.
