"Just Call Me Jake" was inspired by a choir director that I had the pleasure of working with several years ago. She had this marvelous personality; nothing fazed her, she was never upset. I modeled some of Myra's actions and word choice on hers, though the troubles in Myra's life are entirely fictional.

What are you working on next?
I'm working on a love story between two characters thrown together by circumstances -- each takes a risk by falling for the other. So far, it's a bit racier than "Just Call Me Jake".
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I think so, I was about ten years old and thought it would be very cool to be a writer. It was something about gold and diamonds and a mailbox, but I don't remember the details too well.
