Interview with Arcadia Page

What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy reading Shoujo manga, and science fiction, dystopian novels. I also like reading fantasy novels.
Describe your desk
Pens, papers, two computers, a graphic's tablet, a rough draft in a purple folder, tissues, stickers, and kawaii's kinda crazy.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book, which is not published yet, was inspired by my love of the "magical girl" genre in Anime and Manga.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I get the most joy when I hit that publish button and I can see that what I've made is affecting other people and the way they see things.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I'm never inspired to get out of bed. I just have stuff that I have to do everyday.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
So far, posting my work for free has worked well. Especially if the story is serialized. My comic Couture is a good example of that.
When did you first start writing?
When I was four.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords had made it possible for my story to be seen in a number of different online outlets--from Barnes and Noble to iBooks. I think this is great because Smashwords saves me all of the time and work it would take to distribute my stories to all of these online stores.
Who are your favorite authors?
Jane Austen, Meg Cabot, Scott Westerfield, Ai Yawazawa
