Interview with Paul M Wallbridge

Published 2015-03-24.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
Magician by Raymond E. Feist, the Devil's Punchbowl by Greg Iles, Hitchhikers Guide by DNA, Mort by Terry Pratchett and Dune by Frank Herbert
What do you read for pleasure?
Almost anything! Just not romantic novels! I love reading picture books to my children. There are some great Middle Grade out there too. I'm a firm believer of reading all styles and genres to help improve my craft.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use an iPad with both Kindle and iBooks installed.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I don't know yet, I've just started out really so any tips people can share would be most welcome! I am active on Twitter in various writing communities, so that is my main route of promotion.
Describe your desk
I don't have one. I use a laptop to write, so my desk is 'two legs'. They are quite dependable, I've had them my whole life. Not lop-sided, which is a bonus and usefulness for when I want to walk to the kitchen for a coffee.
When did you first start writing?
As everyone, I guess, I learned to write at school. Oh, creative writing... Well that would be in my teens I suppose. Although I didn't start properly writing fiction until I was in my mid-twenties. Argyle was my first piece and is available on Smashwords.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Which one? I have several on the go! My most prominent one at the moment is a middle grade fantasy about shapeshifting Dragons. I'm attempting to obtain representation on it at the moment, but if that fails I may self publish.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The desire to see what people actually think of my writing. Also, I recognise how hard it is to get published nowadays and so thought if I can get an indie title out and read by a few people it can't hurt.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Ask me that again in a few months... Or years! I'm not successful yet, but I hope to be!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Creating something that gives someone else enjoyment. Making someone laugh or cry. The ability to invoke emotions with just a few words written down on paper.
What do your fans mean to you?
I have fans?
Smashwords Interviews are created by the profiled author or publisher.
