Interview with Shaikh Ashraf

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Well, I remember and I am still trying to make it into a book yet. It is about politics of India and situations youngsters face in a hectic political environment.
What is your writing process?
I think through the plots of the novel while taking long walks outside, then I write outline of novel and decide whether to make further changes in it or not.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first story I read was written by Chetan Bhagat, "Half Girlfriend" then I read further more books from which I kept my inspiration fuel get going!
How do you approach cover design?
MS Paint, I know it is quiet unprofessional but it is good.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Alchemist, The Kite Runner, I am Malala, Gone Girl and Making India Awesome. These books are well planned, well written and brilianlty crafted which makes reader dive into the thoughts or the world of writer.
What do you read for pleasure?
Books, among them, are Novels, biographies and Newspapers.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I own an -reading device, I find it easy to read through printed format books.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Well, it is my first book let's experiment and look ahead.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Mumbai and Saudi Arabia, in Saudi, there were my friends who were book addicts, I never understood them and i avoided books, then when i came to Mumbai, i started reading books and it changed the way I look the world.
When did you first start writing?
November 2015, I started maintaining my journal daily then I thought I need to write something great, then I got idea of my political novel, but it didn't happen, in March 2015 I got idea of "Friendship, Love & Sacrifice" I plotted it down and showed it to some of my friends, they liked it and I continued to write this novel.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Friends, actually, it is my last year of Junior College, I thought I have to do something intresting, one day I just got an idea about writing a novel about friendship, the real story behind is Friends.
