Interview with Asia Aguirre

What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. I'm a reader, myself, so I understand the joy of coming across a great story or a great book, something that will stick with you for years to come.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Having someone read and enjoy a story of mine is a great thrill. Also, seeing my stories take shape and become visual is something magical. The whole act of writing is a magical process and I feel honored that a reader would choose to indulge their imagination through my words. Thank you.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read fiction and short stories. I love Nathanael West, Robert Coover and P.G. Wodehouse. I also read screenplays, poetry, and creative nonfiction.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Recently, I use my Nokia Lumia, because I love to read in bed.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I like the personal connection of interaction whether via Twitter or Facebook. I would love to collaborate with the right people and love it when my designer gives me smoking hot cover art. Yeah, I'm guilty of judging books by their covers.
What are you working on next?
I'm working on my Private Pocket Original series of short grindhouse/exploitation/monster/weird/ultra-sexy stories for publication on Smashwords.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I spent my formative years at sea or exploring uninhabited islands in search of mythical sea creatures. I love mystery, humor, strange things, and hot sex. I blame it on all the sushi.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords is a super cool platform. I dig the fact that readers can choose their file formats and I feel readers who shop for ebooks at Smashwords are coming here because they support self-publishing and indie authors. Onward from the bottom up!
