Interview with April Lyon

What motivated you to become an indie author?
The fact that i wanted people to be able to read what had happened to me as a child and hopefully to help ones who read my book to fill as if they are not alone anymore.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
I really do not have a comment for this question. Smashwords has gotten my book out there for others to read so i am glad for that.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Once again the fact that I can get my story out there and hopefully someone can find some comfort in knowing they are not alone in this venture.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are wonderful I do not know where I would be without them. My biggest fans who I am presistent on making happy though is my family.
What are you working on next?
Nothing at the moment. I have not figured out what else to write about.
Who are your favorite authors?
Author Holly Newhouse( My sister) Sherryl Woods, and can not think of any more.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My children
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I crochet for something to do. I am actually working on a baby blanket for my grandson who will be born in Febuary of this next year.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Have not read any e books lately
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes the one that got published, about my childhood.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I do not have 5 specific ones, I read books that have anything to do with real life stories, and books that have shape shifters in them. And also love books about dragons.
What do you read for pleasure?
Not much. I have to be in the mood to read, seeing it makes me super tired.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Do not have one.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew u in a lot of different places as a child. We moved all the time so I never really had a certain place to grow up. My main place I remember is Pocahontas Iowa. That's where I went to school and met my wonderful sisters Holly and Christy, and my little brother Todd.
When did you first start writing?
Just about a year ago
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my book is my actual life.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Not really anything i posted on facebook and prayed it would go somewhere.
