Interview with S. L. Danielson

What do you read for pleasure?
Pleasure reading? That is all over the map...from business books, self-help, other authors of gay fiction. Right now I re-read mine since they are in editing.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
While I still love a good paperback, my Kindle Paperwhite is my absolute favorite! I can see it in night in bed and have the lights off otherwise.
Describe your desk
Haha, the great whirlwind! Actually it's pretty good right now. In front of me is my trusty laptop, to its right is another monitor (essential these days)! Beneath that are some bills and papers..and to my left are two pencil cups, a sorter, a calendar, and an open can of pringles (or cookies, or coffee) at all times.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in West Virginia my first decade, but really came of age in the midwest. I think the influence this had on my writing was that it was pretty bland everywhere I went so I dove into my imagination.
When did you first start writing?
As soon as I figured out pencils. About five years old.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
For me definitely the greatest joy is bringing characters to life! To take a flat description and turn him into an angel, a devil, or a combination of both.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are gold! They mean everything to me and I wish I could afford to buy them all a gift to show it.
What are you working on next?
Right now I have a new tale I'm writing called "Cid". An older college student who doesn't quite fit into the norms, and sloughs off almost all human contact.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
When I'm not writing I split my time between knitting, painting, gaming, watching Netflix, and hanging out with hubby, cats, and other family.
What is your writing process?
My process has changed over the years. In the beginning it was just write. Just go.
Now I need an outline or framework at least to keep things in check or it will go completely awry.
