Interview with Bridget Campos

What is your e-reading device of choice?
Definitely Amazon Kindle. I always read my e-books from this device.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Social media (such as Twitter and Facebook) has greatly helped in getting the word out there about the book project I've recently worked on.
Describe your desk
One word: Tiny :)
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Most of my life I grew up in Echo Park, CA.
Living in a city filled with artistic types like painters, poets, and musicians really gave me inspiration not only in my style of writing, but also the stories I write about.
When did you first start writing?
When I was 10 years old. In fact, my first book, "Upon the Willful Ignorance of Men" was the first story I ever wrote as a kid. Originally it was a short story about half a page that was a writing project for school. My teacher liked it and so did I. It was at that moment I realized that I could see myself being a writer for the rest of my life.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I don't want to give too much away, but it is an expansion of the original short story I wrote when I was a kid.
A couple of years ago, I wanted to write a book but didn't know where to start. Then one day when I was visiting my mom, and like what most parents do, she saved some of my Elementary school work. That's when I stumbled on my first short story. And it gave me an idea. Why don't I use this short story for my first book, but just add to the storyline with additional characters and a couple of plot twists. And that's what I did.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I always like to challenge myself. I've never written a book, so why not try it out.
Though it is hard work, the process has been really fun. I can't wait to work on the next book very soon.
What are you working on next?
I still have my online publication, Bridget Campos News Features, which I regularly update with celebrity interviews and articles, but I have another book in the works that will hopefully be out in a few months.
Who are your favorite authors?
Edgar Allan Poe is my inspiration. I love his dark style of writing and that each story he wrote was unique. I try to emulate that when it comes to my stories. I want each one of my tales to be special and unique.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Well, I recently got married. So I love to spend as much time with my hubby, either going to the beach, bowling, or having a nice dinner at our favorite restaurant.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
When people tell me they are looking forward to reading my next writing project. That really gives me a boost of confidence and to give my all in my work.
