Interview with Bennett Tomlin

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
It is the opportunity to share my knowledge. I have a true passion for learning and because of that I have knowledge scattered over a wide array of topics. Writing gives me an opportunity to share it.
What do your fans mean to you?
The support I have gotten for everything I have done is incredible. Without fans none of this is possible. You guys are the reason I still sit down at the coffee house and keep writing.
What are you working on next?
It's a brand new health and fitness guide! Specifically it is one that explains Intermittent Fasting and offers advice on how to fit it into your life and explains the science behind it.
Who are your favorite authors?
I have been inspired by so many authors. I love the voice that Tim Ferriss is able to capture in his writings, specifically for health and fitness I would not have gotten to this point without Rob Wolfe and John Walker and Brad Pilon. For fiction I can always enjoy a Stephen King novel, but it was probably Douglas Adams who cemented me as a reader for life.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Normally studying. I am a full time student who writes in his free time. Some of this studying is for my classes, and rest is for writings for my books and my website Scientific Nutrition, I am also a very active member of my fraternity, a member of student government, a member of Greek Council, and a licensed Pharmacy Technician.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Not the first one I ever wrote, but I do vividly remember one I got an award for back when I was in first grade. It was about a group of British spies, working separately from MI5 and MI6 due to potential corruption and infiltration in these organizations. This group of spies believed that MI5 had been working on a new form of enhancement meant to give the agents treated with it special powers. When infiltrating MI5 to attempt to learn more they are dosed with this compound, and take on the properties of the lizard. It is then a battle to the very core of MI5 in an attempt to get the antidote. Of course, they eventually succeed and are reverted to normal, but it ends with them getting a dispatch that there is weird activity at MI6.
What is your writing process?
I sit down at my favorite coffee shop, with a cup of coffee, a cup of water, and open up Scrivener. Then I write. Once I find my attention starting to wander, I take a break and read a book for an hour or so. If after that I have more motivation I open up my computer again, otherwise I call it a day.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use a Nook Glowlight Plus. I started with the very first Nook 3g and have stayed with them since then. It is an excellent device, that lets me carry a huge part of my reading library with me.
When did you first start writing?
I have always been a writer. Since I was very young I was always writing stories, experimenting with poetry, trying to write guides and the like. Writing is part of who I am.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I discovered a diet technique that worked wonders for me, and when I researched I realized there was a huge amount of science and a huge amount of misunderstanding around intermittent fasting so I set out to correct it.
