Interview with Bo Quinn

Published 2016-06-17.
Describe your desk
Simple polished wooden desk with just my computer, writing pad and a sketch-pad resting on it.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Australia. My family was not very well off and we learnt many skills that have driven me through life. I was taught that no matter who you are and where you have come from, it is up to you to push ahead to achieve your goals. I was lucky enough to watch my own parents show me this and they grew their own successful company out of nothing. I have followed suit with my own company and have achieved my own success as well.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing years ago but it has only been in recent times have I manage to finally get my act together and get over my fears of putting my work out there for others to see.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind the latest book is on showing that you only need very simple lessons to get you to what you want to achieve. You do not need much at all to be successful in life.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I love writing and it feels as though I am wasting words if I don't them down and out there. From my past experience I have learnt so much from strangers in my travels or that one teacher that had something more to say when you were willing to sit there and listen. I feel being an indie author, I am pretty much the same thing - a stranger in your travels with something that might be important to one person out there.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing that my words may reach just one person out there, that may just trigger one idea in their mind to achieve what they want out of life.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without fans I have no readers and no feedback to whether my writings have been helpful or not. Hearing back from my fans means that I can hear if my books are helpful or if they are looking for something else. This way I can continue to write books that will continue to be helpful for others.
What are you working on next?
I am currently working on a book to help others develop their own ideas from sparks into something that can work into their own business or a creative hobby. It can be quite hard to get one great idea from just being a dream into reality.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
The fact that I can get up and be creative. Whether this is working on my next book or creating a new design for my company. I love knowing that everything that I work on can be useful for others in one way or another.
What is your writing process?
My writing process might be completely different to others but I usually get my ideas after I have been out for a walk or excercising. I then begin with a brainstorming sheet of paper, drawing and writing down all of my ideas that are running around in my head. From there I can start to re-arrange it all into a nicely laid out format that can be easily read.
