Interview with Brandon M. Herbert

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I'm a full time student studying for a degree in Graphic Design, I'm a part time musician and recording engineer, I build websites, graphics, and videos using the Adobe Creative Suite, and I love to cook. More than anything else though, I love to read. I just don't get to do it as much as I'd like to thanks to the aforementioned distractions.
What are you working on next?
Wow, I have a huge answer for this, but for your sake I'll only share my current writing activity. While Walking Wolf Road is in the final stages before release, I am writing supplementary short stories to help me flesh out the World of Shadows timeline in my head, while simultaneously penning the rough draft of the first book in the World of Shadows trilogy, Of Wolf and Man. These stories are very different from Walking Wolf Road, while WWR was a Young Adult Urban Fantasy, the World of Shadows is on the far edge of Urban Fantasy, spilling over into the Horror genre even. These stories are very dark, and not exactly recommended for young readers if you catch my drift.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Coffee. :) The fact that it's usually brought to me by a beautiful woman who loves me is huge bonus too. Haha!
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Unfortunately. Something are best never reaching the light of day, haha!
When did you first start writing?
In 5th grade, just a couple years after a dangerously close brush with illiteracy, I penned my first short story. It was an Aliens fan-fiction, as I was engrossed with Steve Perry's Aliens novels at the time. It was absolute rubbish! But... after a few years piddling away with poetry and song lyrics, I started to get back into writing larger fiction in High School, which is actually where the earliest origins of the Tales of the Underground series began.
