Interview with Phillip Falcone

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Its not about where I grew up, but the events of my life that influence my writing. For instance, the death of my father triggered a response similar to most; I went on a search for God. Yes, I was angry and wanted God to know. So, I went on a journey. I didn't begin with the bible. In fact, I began in what some would call the opposite direction. My journey began in the occult, and then on to the bible and other religious writings. Eventually, the path led towards science.
When did you first start writing?
My writing career began when I was in second grade. At least, I think it was second grade when I began writing poetry. The teacher, I believe her name was Ms. Noble, submitted a poem to the local newspaper. The poem was about growing up.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
It was actually the competition that drove me. Costs and a desire to control what was being put out for others to read. So much of what is available is fluff or its the same information in different packaging. I didn't want to be one of those authors.
Who are your favorite authors?
My favorite authors range from fantasy to science fiction to science and occultism. The first real book I picked up was a collection of stories by Robert E. Howard. Most will know him by the Conan stories. Then there's Michael Moorcock with his eternal champion series. When it comes to science fiction, I'm still partial to Frank Herbert. His Dune series was the most fantastic series. Next to him, is Rober Heinlein. Both authors described their ideal society. Science is more about Daniel Goleman. One can learn a lot from the likes of Helena Blavatsky and Rudolf Steiner.
