Interview with Burr Cook

What is your e-reading device of choice?
Amazon Kindle
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
The books description is important but mostly writing interesting and inventive stories works.
Describe your desk
My desktop in very messy and cluttered. A laptop with Windows 7 is central. There is a large stack of papers to be inputted to my website which has not been touched in a year. Next to that is a printer/scanner and a stack of DVDs.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Firstly I have to admit that I never grew up. I am 80 years old now and only remember bits and pieces of my early life. I do remember that I seldom told the truth so I only write fictional stories.
When did you first start writing?
I have enjoyed writing for most of my life, at least since out of diapers but I have just been publishing since turning 79.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I am becoming more and more aware of my immortality and would like to leave something to help my descendants to know me.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
By far the greatest joy comes from knowing that someone is reading what I write.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without them I would have no reason to write.
What are you working on next?
I am concentrating on westerns since that is what seems to generate the most interest from my readers.
Who are your favorite authors?
John Grisham, Herman Hesse, Zane Grey and Mark Twain.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was "Buster, the Story of a Slave" and I believe it was my best work.
