Interview with Khadija Styles

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My love for storytelling! Being able to create an enticing novel filled great plots and information that has the readers wanting more. But most importantly, being able to create a platform for my voice to be heard as I plan on writing books of all different genres to showcase my staying power as a author.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything! The fact that they took the time to read my work means tons. I am very thankful to know people are enjoying the stories I write for their entertainment and grow.
What are you working on next?
I have already completed my second novel called "How Did We Get Here?" which I am beyond excited to put out this body of work as I have written an even more jaw dropping, entertaining book for my readers to get carried away in. As well as co-written a children's book with my daughter called "My Two Homes" in order to help children read of stories that they themselves might be going through and to look at the positive side of it set to release later this year. With those books set to be release next, I am in the process of writing new material.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Other then writing, my passion for creating expands into the fashion world. I have a fashion page on Polyvore with over 100,000 views and counting, tumblr, and blog. I also am a stylist and creative director for other brands and use to own a fashion line called "MC Apparel" before I started writing. Overall the ability to create is how I enjoy spending my time whether creating memories with my daughter and family or creating brand content for clients is how I love spending time in general.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I am from Toronto Ontario which is a very multi-cultural place to live and in many ways plays role in my ability to write about different topics and subjects.
When did you first start writing?
My writing journey first began back in 2012 when I wrote "Friend" and I continued on to develop my writing skills till this day.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
After sending out many manuscripts capturing the attention of three publishing companies followed by plenty of rejections, I decided to look into self publishing to expand my chances in becoming an author as I was not to keen on the contracts offers proposed to me as well the rejects I received. Self publishing began to become more appealing to me.
