Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Northern California wine country, Made me appreciate nature and our connection to it. Also made me appreciate wine and its culture.
When did you first start writing?
I first wrote as a scientist at UC Davis. I enjoyed following the story the data was trying to tell. Everything has a story and stories are as important to life as air and water.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The creation process - taking something from a raw idea to something new and beautiful - experiencing the "gelling" of seemingly disparate elements into a unique perspective and creating new connections.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book is a compilation of pre-prohibition recipes and the history of various liqueurs. While it is non-fiction, it also tells a story of our recent human history's relationship with alcohol.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have to get what's in my head onto my computer screen. And, of course, coffee.

What motivated you to become an indie author?
Having content I really want to share with the world and being able to control how it is presented.
What do your fans mean to you?
They are why I write. I want to add good things to the world. I think of those who will read my books and I hope they will bring a smile to their face and some joy to their life.
What are you working on next?
A series of homestead related short story books under the title "Little Farm Secrets".
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Puzzles, graphic design, website design, dishes, laundry, etc.
