Interview with Cendrine Marrouat

Published 2014-05-18.
What do you read for pleasure?
I'm passionate about the work I do. So, I read a lot of nonfiction, and everything around social media marketing and branding.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Putting myself in my audience's shoes has allowed me to promote my books in a way that does not feel too pushy.

I find sharing quotes and reviews to be two very effective techniques, for example. This is what I did with my latest ebook: http://socialmediaslant.com/little-big-ebook-social-media-audiences-quotes/.
Describe your desk
I don't really have a desk. I work in my dining room, surrounded with my cat and two dogs.
When did you first start writing?
I started my career as a poet. It was back in 2005.
What's the story behind your latest book?
For the last couple of years, most of my discussions with clients, readers of my blogs, and participants in my classes had revolved around the concepts of "audiences" and "advocates". It was easy to see, from the questions they asked, that many of them did not know how to get started the right way with social media. So, I decided to write something very basic and in plain English to help them.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Knowing that my writing is helping others.
What do your fans mean to you?
Without them, I have no business. Period. :-)
What are you working on next?
I'm not telling. ;-)
Who are your favorite authors?
Khalil Gibran is definitely my all-time favorite author. I also love Alphonse de Lamartine.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Life!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love taking pictures, listening to music, playing the guitar or piano, and spending time with great friends.
