Interview with Cheyanne Young

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I don't recall the title, but it was in 4th grade. We had to write "tall tales" on long narrow strips of paper. I wrote about a camping trip with my family who were all very talented in superhero like proportions. It was the longest story in the class.
What is your writing process?
I have a long commute to my day job so I tend to spend an hour each morning and afternoon daydreaming about my story. Then I spend the night hours writing, usually on my laptop while I sit on the floor next to my dog. She's a bit of a nosy thing and loves watching me type.
How do you approach cover design?
I love to design my own covers and I've spent many hours playing with Photoshop and Gimp, trying to learn as much as I can. It also takes hours of searching stock images to find the perfect one for each book. I love every bit of cover design though! It's a fun challenge to bring your entire novel into a simple cover image.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love superhero novels, angsty YA novels and some clean New Adult books.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have a Kindle which I love, but I also do a lot of reading on the Kindle app on my cell phone.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Giveaways always seem to gather interest. But the best marketing I've found is to just keep writing more books!
