Interview with georgina heredia brandt

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Cuba under Communist rule, and grew up here in California, USA. Both of these backgrounds have influenced my poetry, short stories, and choice of words in all of my writing. I have also translated poetry from Spanish to English, can be found in writing.com.
When did you first start writing?
As a child, wrote about anecdotes that occurred in Cuba, but was unable to bring those writings with me because of Communist rules prohibiting freedom of the press.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Brought more exposure to my work and also enabled me to do more research for future writing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to put my words on paper for everyone to see and enjoy, is a pride and great joy in itself.
Who are your favorite authors?
Favorite authors: Shakespeare, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas, Voltaire, Asimov, Le Guinn, Edgar A Poe, Dickens.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading or researching on the web, or reviewing other people's writing for ideas.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Search on Smaswords or Gutenberg.org
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
It was about an anecdote about a political argument between 2 of my relatives.
What is your writing process?
It varies depending on inspiration or impulse. Normally, inspired by prompts or news read on the Internet.
What do you read for pleasure?
Science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, classics.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
E-reader.
