Interview with H Gibson

What is the story behind your books?
They all came about after my Near Death Experiences and are chronicles of my past lives.
Some readers merely refer to them as 'space opera' 'adventure' 'metaphysical' 'romance' 'paranormal' 'fantasy' and I even had 'horror'. Thus I leave readers to think what they wish. It is okay with me. It is a never ending story in any case.
When did you first start writing?
When I could hold a pen and scribble on paper. Some of my childhood notes went into my books.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
An incident with Amazon and publishers not interested in the 'book matter'.
What are you currently writing?
The book about my Near Death Experience and Life Review, it is turning into Book 1 of an autobiography.
The second book is in draft and I have 3 more books currently in draft. I tend to write 2-3 at a time.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Understanding myself, healing old wounds, growing wiser, and somehow the books are healing other people too, which is a bonus.
What do your fans mean to you?
I have fanatically loyal fans, thus when I write, I know I'm not just writing for myself, although I know I'm writing for myself first. Their growth, with me, is absolutely amazing to see. Many had become great friends too.
Who are your favorite authors?
Everyone with a great story to tell. From the best sellers to the unknown indies. The book I'm reading is the favourite author of the day.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I wake up. Life goes on. Breathe in and out. Get on with it.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Mostly researching or editing. I do try and balance life a bit with set family time.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
They come to me from the most obscure places, mostly not connected to any publishing site at all.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes. It was an essay about a leopard. It was the allotted two pages in the tiniest handwriting I could manage. The teacher was not impressed at all. The stories only became longer after that. I still write thick books. Seems to be a habit.
What is your writing process?
Sit down, type. The story is there already it just needs to be typed.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
Yes. About a lone wolf that became vegan. He became sick and had to go back to meat to regain his health. I guess this is a debate for another platform.
How do you approach cover design?
I like nice covers. My latest release I chose one of my own paintings for the artwork. Thus the whole book emanates my vibrational energy. It is awesome.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Chronicles of Han Storm Series so far. Preserving Creata, Reclaiming Duback, Taming Encha, Leilaka and Saving Leilaka.
It taught me about myself, where I came from, how things worked out for me to become who I am today. It took a lot of tears, self forgiveness and courage to face myself. I'm not done with the series and it is developing into a major reading experience for fans. I'm glad about being able to have this opportunity to share my lives with people.

"Creata used to be my home planet. Having reached her limit of 9 billion people, our Planetary Government was looking for ways of sustaining such huge numbers. They drew me into the fray and before I knew it, I became indispensable to their needs. A reluctant pioneer, they turned me into a tool to be used for their ultimate goal. I am Han and these are my stories."
