My cats Hagrid and Pepper jumping on my bladder waking me up because they are hungry. :P
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to cook and craft. Pinterest is a girl's best friend. I also still have a day job, well it's a night job actually and when I need to de-stress, my guilty pleasure is The Real Housewives on Bravo. Yep, all of them. Ssshhh don't tell!
What is your writing process?
Scenes with my characters play out in my head (usually while I'm in the shower), almost like a movie. They repeat over and over in my brain until I write them down (Yes, I'm dressed by now. Get your dirty little minds out of my shower.) I edit later and share my ideas with my little sister who inspires me to no end.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Not my earliest but my most memorable was during my freshman year in high school. We had to take an adage and make it literal. Needless to say I wrote about a cat and a boy named Curiosity. A little dark I know. Stephen King books lined my teenage bookshelves.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It was an interview on TV with Stephen King actually. I still have to keep my feet and head covered while I sleep even though he said my brain would be safe because the monster under the bed never starts with dessert.
What do you read for pleasure?
All fiction is a pleasure! My favorites are Urban Fantasy, PNR, Science Fiction & Fantasy, and Dystopian.
Describe your desk
Cluttered and mostly unused. I do my best writing late at night in bed. In a pitch black room my cats and boyfriend sleep soundly all snuggled in around me, keeping the monster under the bed at bay while I type away on my keyboard.
When did you first start writing?
I can't remember a time when I didn't write. It was only until recently that it came off the back burner with a nudge from my lil' sis. Writing is my bliss!
What's the story behind your latest book?
I love taking a well known story or fairy tale and giving it an unexpected twist. To me those make the best stories, something you've never seen before. Here's the blurb to my fantasy novel Cloak of Shadows (The Netherwalker Series, Book 1) I hope you enjoy!:
What if all you've ever known of King Arthur's legend was a lie to mislead you from the truth? What if Camelot truly existed, but was destroyed to keep its secrets? What if there were descendants of the Knights of the Round Table defending us today from the creatures that lurk within the shadows? If the gloaming came looking for you would you answer its call?
Fourteen year old Abigail Thorne answered the gloaming and it turned her life upside down. Along with her mentor Lourdes Reese, a seasoned hunter in the King's Court, she now banishes the evil shadows while most dociles sleep in their beds.
Fighting hidden creatures that feed on humans, glimpsing fractures that lead to another world, and wielding magical weapons all before geometry? That's a normal day for Abbey now, and she loves every minute of it. But, she has no idea that being sent to Britain for her last hunter trial will unleash a chain of events that will change everything and everyone she loves forever.
A life will be lost, a life will be taken, and an unexpected new romance will emerge all while the fate of two worlds balances on the edge of a hunter's blade.
