Interview with Cliff White III

What was your motivation for writing this book?
I was stuck in a prison cell knowing I was worth more than what life was giving me. Once the pen hit the paper, it never has stopped since!
What are you working on next?
I have a few different options as for what my next release will be with me having four novels completed. It's between PUSSY KILLS...The Beautiful Monsters or THE SNITCH FACTOR
Who are your favorite authors?
K'wan, Nikki Turner and Vikki Stringer for Urban Novels. James Patterson and John Grisham for mainstream novels.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My quest to build my publishing company, CORTEX PUBLISHING, to extreme heights.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Building my other company,
Did Prison help or hurt you as an author?
Prison helped me in a way that is hard to explain. My sanity was saved through my ability to live within my imagination. Many in prison survive this way I just chose to convey my coping mechanism into words which manifested into a future best seller.
How much time did you do in prison?
15 years and 11 months.
How was your transition back into society after being gone for so long?
It was a little difficult. I was arrested with a pager in 1997. I had a galaxy awaiting my release. See the difference? The first time I was ever on the internet was December 2012. I came home focused and hungry so I forced the transition to go smoothly?
Your novel's main topic is the Death Penalty, what is your stance on the subject?
I am against the death penalty strictly because our justice system is too flawed to rely on its accuracy. If you don't believe that, within my dedication, I listed the 148 guys that were sent on death row and later removed because they were vindicated. BAN THE DEATH PENALTY!
How do you classify your book?
It is a mainstream Urban Legal Thriller. I am out to take the Urban Novel genre mainstream.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up mostly in Columbia, Maryland, which is a beautiful suburb which falls in the middle of Baltimore City and Washington D.C. I grew up around legal money which had me thinking about career decisions in my childhood years. Because my parents were not balling, I quickly found that suburbs get gutter too. North Babylon/Wyandanch Long Island also helped raised me.

LIFE AFTER DEATH, THE NOVEL, is a story that places you in first person in order to experience the level of vengeance a Death Row prisoner possesses after DNA forces the State of Maryland to stop attempting to kill him for a crime he didn't commit. The Hip-Hop culture was used in this story to address a issue that could actually affect you or somebody you know. Would you be able to just move on?
