Interview with Books 4 Ever
Published 2015-11-20.
What do you read for pleasure?
I read just about everything, including the bible for pleasure. If it's bound I read it.
Yeah, magazines count but there is something more to the content of books. They tell history, and stories that come from the imagination. You must have on your thinking cap.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Overdrive for denton library, and now smash words.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
This is really the first I have tried, and I let people read them. I want people to get a feel for my books. I don't want them to judge it by the picture on the cover.
Describe your desk
Just a common oak desk with a lamp and I use it to write and study.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Texas, and it influenced my writing because I used to want to write. But it was not attainable goal in life. My dad says, "pick goals that are attainable and realistic." That way I'd have something to fall back on.
When did you first start writing?
Around 16 or 17, mostly poetry and later about 24 the books.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I was wanting a character everyone could read about, and think that could be her, and the boys could look up to. Even me, and I picked a Private Eye. The Sheriff in town is also Count, which is kinda cool.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I just love to write, and I always wanted to publish my work I just didn't know how.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It's gotten my first book out there. Thank you.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To know that someone else can finally have as much fun reading my book as I did writing it.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans mean everything. Without fans writing would not exist because there would be no readers. Readers make the Fandom.
What are you working on next?
I actually have the next three books lined up and a Scary Horror book. and a book of poems.
Who are your favorite authors?
Oh, I have tons.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Knowing I can inspire someone else to do what I did.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Working, living life, and going to school.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
The online library.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
This one.
What is your writing process?
Thinking of the plot. Putting characters into it, and trying to fit the whole plot into place around them.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The Velveteen Rabbit, and I believe it had given me the best imagination ever. I could look into an empty box, or open a book and just get imagination.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
J.R.R. Tolkien The Trilogy of The Lord of the Rings, Insurgent, and so many more.
How do you approach cover design?
I haven't done my covers. I may not so people don't judge my books by their covers. they can just read it.
