Interview with Cleo Patra

Published 2015-07-11.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Cleo Patra is an aspiring writer who happens to have physical limitations and has Dysarthria. Her book, Sunset, Sunrise, Sunset; Soon A New Day Will Dawn, is her debut in the poetry genre. Her poetry reflects her responses to life experiences, indifferent decision-making and the struggles of romantic relationships for a physically limited woman. Her struggles are not unlike physically-abled women except they are amplified by her increased vulnerability. Cleo Patra hopes the reader will find her poetry easy reading; expressing with words the emotions of the highs and lows of life.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I want to show readers that no matter what your circumstances are right now, you have the power to change them. Doesn't matter if you are abled-body or have physical limitations or what your inner family circle believes about you, YOU are the captain of your own life-cruise. You can decide if you want everybody else to control/direct your life the way THEY want it or do YOU want to take control of your life and direct it the way you want it to be. Yes, there are going to be multiple obstacles, discouragements and sacrifices on your path on the way of your emancipation, but NEVER give up. Take each obstacle, discouragement and/or sacrifice as a challenge. Learn from each one. Should the "traditional" way not work, try an alternative. Keep on trying until you succeed. Believe me, if you really want something in life so bad you can taste it, then YOU WILL SUCCEED! Even if it takes you longer to get there, you WILL get there at the end.

Dan Brown; David Baldacci; Stephenie Meyer
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Positive thoughts and to help everyone else to have a better life
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Relaxing with friends or helping others; I also enjoy going to the movies, listening to a kaleidoscope of music which includes classical and opera, reading and spending time with myself.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I use "Dr Google" to find the genre ebooks I am interested. My friends also give me book-gifts
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, it was a short story and the title was "Kit Kat." Unfortunately, I lost the manuscript
