Interview with Cyndi Raye

What do you read for pleasure?
I love to read period, not just romance, but some of my favorite books are actually autobiographies. I've read Dolly Parton's encouraging words in her latest best seller, Dream More, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, George Jones and many others.

Some of the romance authors that I love are Johanna Lindsey, Jude Deveraux and Nora Roberts since I grew up reading those authors. I borrowed my Mom's books many times when I was a teen.

I also love self help and short stories as well.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Number one choice is a Kindle
Describe your desk
Funny you should ask as I sit here thinking it needs cleaned up. The best thing about my desk is there is a window right beside it, which I find myself gazing out of from time to time. I think it's a good distraction though, it keeps me from staring down at the screen constantly. There are deer, squirrels and other little creatures that inhabit my back yard at times, so it's a pleasure to have such a view. Have you noticed how I avoided the description of a messy desk? It's a hot mess. I've got papers strewn everywhere, even a few fell on the floor and I don't pick them up until I'm done for the day. I always have a space for my coffee mug or a glass of water, that's a must have.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Nothing Waits Forever is the second story in my Florida Keys series. Jon is the twin brother of Jake, who starred in the first book of the series, What Tomorrow Brings. Jon is a doctor who works in an urgent care center and along comes this wild looking woman, who is dressed like Pippi Longstocking. She actually volunteers at the hospice center but he doesn't know that at first. She brings him her pet German Shepherd who's leg is caught in a trap. At first, he refuses to help her since he's not a vet, but then realizes the animal hospital is too far away. The story starts there and the two fall in deep. Then there's a bit of drugs and gun running going on and some adventures that I think my readers will enjoy.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I saw it as an opportunity to be able to publish my work, my way. I love that the times have changed and a writer can publish the work they have been so passionate about.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The readers enjoying what I write. I love when they have good things to say and when they email and ask for the next book. It makes me happy to know someone actually loves my stories.
What do your fans mean to you?
Everything. It is what makes writing worthwhile. This life as a writer can become lonely at times, so knowing my story will put a smile on a readers face is the ultimate gift I can receive.
Who are your favorite authors?
I grew up reading my Mom's romance books so I have been exposed to Johanna Lindsey and Nora Roberts early on. I love their stories and can read them over and over again.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Walking, reading, spending evenings with hubby. Love to start the fire on cool evenings and we sit together and listen to the crackling fire. I know that sounds corny, but you should try it, with a glass of wine.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Usually someone recommends a good book. I love to go online and find freebies too. If I enjoy the book, I'll certainly buy another series or book from that author.
