Interview with Crystal Lesher

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
As a child I lived in many different places; I was an army brat. Due to the fact we never really stayed in one place, I became my own friend and therefore had to have tons of imagination. I became able to fabricate stories to keep myself entertained.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I am usually doing more than one book at a time because I get bored really easy sometimes. The last two books I have out I was writing at the same time as Destiny book 1 of the Dimentress series. Weeping is random poems I have written throughout my lifetime. Broken is a story for those who have had hard times and need a reminder that they are not alone.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I just wanted to share the things I have went through and things I might have learned along the way with the rest of the world. I hope it can give someone light in a time of need.
What do your fans mean to you?
I love my fans. I love to hear their thoughts and feedback. It can help me become a better writer and sometimes give me some inspiration. I just hope in my writing I can return the favor.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I love to spend my time in all things creative. I draw, quilt, paint, sew, take pictures and read (mostly in bubble baths (; extra bubbles).
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I pick a word and see what I can find; then once I find one I like I look at other books people looked at the same time.
How do you approach cover design?
With Destiny, Reunited and Broken I wanted something eye-catching that gives a little clue to what happens in the book. With Weeping I imagined a place where I would love to sit and read the poems and brought it to life.
What do you read for pleasure?
I like fantasy/science fiction books but recently I have come involved with paranormal romance.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I bought myself for my birthday a few years back a nook and I don't think I will ever go back. Nook was made by basically a book store and we all know how much book stores are dying; so I wanted to support them. I also by printed books too though and when I finish I donate them to libraries (school or town).
Describe your desk
As fancy as it is, it's my lap and usually a small spiral notebook and a pen.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I have tried many things facebook, business cards, newspapers, blogs; but I find word of mouth works best. If you share your excitement for your book with others they get excited too.
