Interview with Nayla Matthew

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Having people read my story and telling me that they really enjoy what i've written.
What do your fans mean to you?
They mean the world, it means that I have people out there whether a little or a lot that actually like reading what I have and that's nice.
What are you working on next?
I am working on a really big book with my older brother, I have to rewrite it because it's not complete but when It is I'll be sure to post it.
Who are your favorite authors?
Easy. James Patterson, I don't have any others.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Knowing that there is something out there for me to accomplish and It won't happen unless I get up.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Reading, Or surfing the web on Tumblr or Facebook. Or hanging out with my friends
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Mostly Wattpad.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Yes, and It was horrible it was when everyone was in love with Vampires and Werewolves and mine was something different.
What is your writing process?
I have to get an idea first, of course. Then I spend at least 5 minutes staring at the blank screen or paper wondering what the first words are going to be. When I figure that out I just go from there sometimes I don't know what is going to happen next and I just keep with the flow, I surprise myself.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
The first chapter book I can remember meeting was about a little girl whose mother was extremely mental Ill and she was raised by her next door neighbor who was afraid to go outside. The girl grew up and wanted to find her father to see if he was normal and why he left her mother and her. It impacted me because It was the first time me reading a book that I can remember that didn't have any pictures and had a deep meaning to it.
How do you approach cover design?
I mostly get help from other people, I like my covers to be over to top and great.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
1. Fault In Our Stars- I don't really like romantic stories, but When my book club told me to read this everyone was ranting and raving about how good it was and when I was reading it I would walk around with the book and people would give me a look and tell me I would cry, and I am not a person who would usually cry in a book but this book was fantastic.
2. Divergent- I love this book simple because of the concept and the main character dealing with leaving her parents and the separation of life, I literally hated when people compared any of the divergent books to Hunger games.
3. Insurgent
4. Are You Real- I liked how it dealt with telling the world about a mental illness.
5. Maxiumum Ride - James Patterson, duh.
What do you read for pleasure?
I love reading action, adventure, mystery or Sci-Fi books!
What is your e-reading device of choice?
My Phone.
