Interview with Dai Fuse

What's the story behind your latest book?
I always wanted to write my own manga inspired story, so why not write it? I took the risk and wrote the book. At first I thought of making a fan fiction, but the story got so expansive that I had to modify and make it original. The result was worth it.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Because I wanted to write stories my way. I wanted to write in my own style free from "genre influence" but I also need to take into consideration the reader who will read this. So I had to research all possible tropes and cliches because I've read that readers read stories just for those and ignore the ones that don't contain those things. Scary!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The mere act of imagining stuff at my own convenience. I'm at my happiest when free from all influence. Because of this, I barely use beta readers. Of course, I use editors to weed out typos and stuff.
What are you working on next?
I'm done with the trilogy and related stories, so what comes next will be determined.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Playing video games or watching YouTube.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I discover based on comments, controversies, and good old fashion random browsing.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I wrote this super cheesy romance novel and never again. Never again.
What is your writing process?
I take notes like mad and then draft on paper before moving to the computer.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
Kindle, always.
