Interview with Dale Craig

What motivated you to become an indie author?
A voice within me wanted answers. After two divorces I'm the first to admit I've been road kill on the highway of love. I wrote this book in an attempt to try and understand what happened. I hear people talk all the time about how they dealt with the rigours of divorce, but in my case it was how divorce dealt with me. It's an honest, raw, whimsical appraisal of my life that spans a four year journey of self discovery.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I wanted to write a story that could be beneficial to others. I noticed many family members, relatives and friends were affected by my marriage breakdown. Some of them had no real insight into how it can involve the loss of access to children, friends, extended family, money, property, your dignity, self respect and peace of mind. I wrote this book to give people a better understanding of what happened to me and how I went about rebuilding my life in an endeavour to find love again.
What are you working on next?
A children's book trilogy titled , 'The Dragon's Breath'. I wrote this series for my three children, it's central theme being the impact of divorce on their lives. The books outline how they cope with the emotional turmoil of separated parents - living between two houses and the introduction of extended families. Each child has to confront their fears with assistance from their own Dragon - their voice of reason - that lives within them. The Dragon's message is unique to each of my three children, as they were each affected differently by the marriage breakdown. The Dragon's Breath series are designed to encourage discussion - even as a teaching tool to assist primary-aged children to articulate feelings and in doing so help them to feel less isolated in their experience.
