Interview with Daria White
Published 2020-07-24.
What is your writing process?
Like all dreams, it originates with a thought. I used to write as inspiration came, but now I try to stick to an outline. From there I write the book, but I also keep in mind the mechanics of a solid story from plot, character development, etc. I'm not an expert, but I've definitely grown in the last few years. By the time I finish the book, I'm stunned. It's literally a dream manifested.
How do you approach cover design?
For My What if Christmas Wish, I worked with a talented designer. Look for her shout out in my book! She literally takes my ideas and brings them to life. With me releasing this story as a second edition, I wanted to show my main character's face. I love the snow in the background, and her facial expression ties into the title. While I don't always have to have my characters shown on the cover, I wanted to capture my audience even more.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
The Phantom of the Opera, A Moment, Dater's Handbook, A Country Wedding, and Forever Mine. The Phantom of the Opera is my top favorite for reasons I don't know why. Still, in my opinion it's literary perfection. I love love love A Moment by Marie Hall, because it's the most heart wrenching book I've read so far. I think I cried once I finished. I wish I could give it ten stars instead of five! Dater's Handbook and A Country Wedding are next on my list, since I'm Hallmark obsessed. These two stories are also two of my favorite films. Finally, Aimee Martin's Forever Mine, which I reviewed for Readers' Favorite. This book has everything from faith to suspense and everything else in between. Truly one of the best!
What do you read for pleasure?
Romance books LOL :). I am reading more cozy mystery and Christian fiction.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I prefer my phone with Apple Books. It's so much easier to store books, and I can read anytime.
Describe your desk
I have one, but ironically I don’t write at a desk. I usually write on my bed, or in my family's game room sitting in the recliner.
What are you working on next?
A lot! I'm branching out into Christian fiction and cozy mystery. Sweet romance will always be my primary genre, but I have ideas that fit into other categories. Why not write them? I'm outlining and plotting my first book in my mystery series. The Bridge Point Romance series is still in the works, and I don't know how long that will last. I also have a Christian fiction title in the works, so I can't wait to finish these projects for the public to enjoy. Again, I'm not tying to please everyone, but for those who truly enjoy my work, I hope you like it.
