Interview with David Ashton

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
With family, friends and my wonderful partner.
What is your writing process?
My process is simple. Research, write it, read it, trash it. I will do this until something looks and sounds like people might want to read it.
What's the story behind your latest book?
As a retired ex-Paramedic I can tell you straight. A huge percentage of the calls we received could have been treated at home with basic first aid. There is a societal need for first aid education, both for the population, and to alleviate pressures on severely overworked medical services. But it must be to the point, easy to follow, effective and affordable. That's why I wrote this book.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I hate the bloody things, you need a magnifying glass and a boat load of patients to use them. Give me a real book made with real paper and I am happy.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
There is beauty all around us, take the time to appreciate it and you will bounce out of bed every morning.
What do you read for pleasure?
Anything but a text book. I am absolutely, totally, unequivocally studied out.
When did you first start writing?
Hang on, I will just check my watch!
