Interview with David Detiege

Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
One of the first books I read was the The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. I enjoyed all of the stories in this book.
How do you approach cover design?
I saw some photos from someone on the a web site and I contacted him to see if he would be interested in putting my cover together. I wanted the cover to look like some of the dreams in my book.
Describe your desk
Everything is in it's place, please don't move anything.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Los Angeles but moved all over the western states.
When did you first start writing?
I started when I was a young boy but never thought I could create a book until one day it hit me.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Dream Maze is a story about a man trapped in his dreams.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I always enjoy it best after I finish writing something down on paper, if it is a line or two or a chapter. It just feels so good.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I also like to play the guitar, go camping, play all kinds of games mostly chess and visit friends.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
When I was six years old I woke up one morning and copied the first chapter of a book I had. I felt like I wrote it myself.
