When did you first start writing?
I started writing over 40 years ago loving poetry.
What's the story behind your latest book?
The poetry is a humorous look at everyday life.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
Uncle Sam. I motivated myself.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
It hasn't yet.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Expression of my feelings.
What do your fans mean to you?
Very uplifting.
What are you working on next?
Publication of numerous books in the near future.
Who are your favorite authors?
Favorite authors are Nelson DeMille, W.E.B. Griffin, Clive Cussler, Lee Child, Stuart Woods, David Baldacci.
Poetry favorite authors are Robert Service, Robert Frost.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I believe that I wake up with new ideas to write every day.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Cooking, reading, listening to music, watching sports, walking my dog, thinking, doing what my wife tells me to do.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I am just recently discovering ebooks.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I remember it - "Deliver Us From Evil" - it was a short story set in Germany.
What is your writing process?
I write on legal pads with a ball point pen.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I've read thousands of stories, and at 75 years of age, my memory is not that great.
How do you approach cover design?
I will be hiring someone at your recommendation.

What do you read for pleasure?
Drama, mystery, historical, war time - autobiographies, biographies. I probably own over 1000 hardcover books proudly displayed in my home.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I have not graduated to a Kindle or other device, and probably won't. There is nothing like holding a book.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Just getting into this.
Describe your desk
Organized and very neat.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Aroostook County, Presque Isle, Maine, the twelfth child of six boys and six girls--poor in money but rich in spirit.
My life influenced my writing tremendously.
If you had a choice to live any where in the world, where would you live?
I'd be right where I am -- in Auburn, Maine.
