Interview with Dean Blake

Why the hell should we read your work?
Because I put a lot of work into creating stories that will entertain, inform, and do a bunch of other things for you.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to get whatever on earth is going on in my head onto paper (or screen).
What do your fans mean to you?
They're the magical sunshine behind my rainy, shitty days.
What are you working on next?
A love story, Dean Blake style.
If there's one thing you could change about yourself, what would it be?
I wouldn't mind being able to fly and shoot beer from my fingers.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My fifty or so alarm clocks going off every five or so minutes. They're not exactly "inspiring" though.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Staring and screaming into the deep dark crater in the middle of my home.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
I don't discover them. They discover me. Then they gather in gangs and hunt me down.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
Of course. It was about a bully in a playground who ate his own snot.
What is your writing process?
I do something bad. I feel guilty. I write.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
This is a tough one. From my memory it was a cartoon sex education book my mum stole from my kindergarten library because it was "too graphic". I flicked through it and understood none of it.
How do you approach cover design?
I design my own damn covers. What do you think?
Who are you listening to right now?
The fifteen hundred hushed voices rushing through my head and my toes.
