Interview with Diane Mintz

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Sharing an intimate view of my struggles wasn't what I would call a joy, but the joy comes when more people understand mental illness and addiction and it causes compassion and hope for recovery.
What do your fans mean to you?
Hope... that more people will break the silence and not be ashamed to talk about mental illness.
What's the story behind your latest book?
It is my story of recovery and a love story with unique insights and revelations about mental illness and addiction since I live very successfully with bipolar and my husband with schizoaffective disorder.
What are you working on next?
I will start a blog after I take a short mental health break and have another book in mind about the relationship between mental, physical and spiritual health.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I heard Stephanie Chandler of Authority Publishing speak and she inspired me. She is a wealth of knowledge and resources which has made the process fun and rewarding.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Helping my husband run our business and enjoying each other and our two children.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
This is my first book so it is still a huge learning curve at this point.
Describe your desk
Dual monitors to manage our business, social connections, home management and writing.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I moved 22 times and I'm not clear of when I actually grew up, so my writing is from a myriad of experiences.
When did you first start writing?
I have kept a journal since I was 10, so writing thoughts and feelings was the easy part. In recent years it became a prayer journal which helped me get direction. The hard part started seven years ago when I was directed to go back and recount our story in an orderly fashion in order to help others.
