I wrote a little in the past but about three years ago I was struck down by labrynthitis and left virtually housebound. I read hundreds of books, which gave me a wonderful way to escape feeling so poorly, but eventually this got expensive! Amazing books inspired me to want to write. Newbie books gave me the confidence to know that other people were out there having a go too, just for the sheer love and drive to write, and so I had a go myself.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I read a lot of free books when I was ill and it just felt like a nice way to thank other writers who had shared their work. It's also a nice way to find out more about the world of writing, by engaging more with other writers and readers.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I love having the opportunity to create characters, and then to imagine them figuring out their lives and to find out what happens with them.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Janet Evanovich and Donna Andrews. Also Harlan Coben, Robert Crais, Jonathon Kellerman, Faye Kellerman, Michael Connelly, and Kathy Reichs. I used to read a lot of crime thrillers. When I got ill I found that I couldn't read anything gory for a while and discovered a new love of romance books. Now I'm on the mend I find that I still love both genres, and particularly stories that have elements of both.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
My children. Even on the toughest days, they bring such joy and excitement. It's great to have such lovely reasons to get out of bed in the morning!
