Interview with Otis Galloway

What is the name of your book
It's called 'I Know Nothing...' A nice non-controversial title designed not to provoke...HAHAHA!
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I was born in Bermuda, and moved as soon as I could get the chance to Massachusetts.
I wasn't trying to be different...I just was, so I got bullied a lot...that made me fairly bitter for a long while, then I realized I was being bullied by assholes, and that was as good as their lives would get.
When did you first start writing?
As soon as I could hold a pen...I made the mistake of letting people talk me out of it...that won't be happening again.
What is your book about?
As I've gotten older, I realize how little I know. I also noticed how many people know nothing, yet act as if they are experts on everything.

I also noticed how many people think their ideology or methodology fits every person and every situation, then go out of their way to implement it.

I wanted to write a book about my frustration with that...Actually, it's me having a good old fashioned rant. I'm hedging my bets that a lot of people feel the same about it.
What's the story behind your latest book?
This is actually my FIRST book...(yay, me!)
It's called 'I Know Nothing.' It's basically philosophy, psychology, sociology, and lots of cursing...
What motivated you to become an indie author?
I got tired of saying 'someday I need to write a book.' I figured it just made sense to write the fucking thing.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Venting...I use words like a blunt force instrument.
What do your fans mean to you?
Drinking buddies. I like having a pint and a blether...If you don't drink booze, a coffee is fine.
Who are your favorite authors?
William Gibson, Malcolm X, Bill Hicks, Rudy Rucker, Hunter S. Thompson
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Coffee.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I remember the first story I SAW...It was 'Silent Running,' a sci-fi movie with Bruce Dern...that started a lifetime love affair with visuals and writing.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
Videogames and weed.
I like to cook, making cocktails, listening to music, deejaying...
How do you approach cover design?
Let someone with more talent than me do it, then pay them and get them drunk.
What do you read for pleasure?
Porn.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I can't even remember what I had for dinner last night...
What is your writing process?
Sit my ass in the chair and get the sonuvabitch done.
