Interview with Donna Kolling Lear

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I keep very busy. I participate in fundraising events for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), a charity that is focused on finding a cure for Type1 Diabetes.
I am also active in my writing group, Sister's In Crime.
I love to dance and take ballroom and latin dance lessons.
Of course I love to read.
What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy all types of crime and mystery novels, and biographies.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
Writing the book was easy compared to trying to market the book. I am still looking for an effective marketing technique.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I use the Nook.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My book is a fiction based on a true family murder mystery. The story takes place in 1939 in the Dutch Hills of Alaska.
Who are your favorite authors?
Some of my favorite authors include: Agatha Christie, James Patterson, Patricia Cornwall, Rhys Bowman, Debbie Macomber.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
It was a Nancy Drew mystery. After years of reading mysteries, I decided it was time for me to try my hand at writing. Of course it had to be a mystery.
