Interview with D.N. Frost

When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first story in 6th grade. I'd always dreamed vividly, but one morning I awoke from an unfinished storyline and endeavored to piece together the fragments into a satisfying conclusion. After mulling over the dream and ironing out the biggest incongruities in the plot, I slipped out of bed and out to the family computer. By slow hunt-and-peck typing over the whole day, I documented my silly 11-year-old adventure with a sense of rapture and shame. In those days, had no aspirations beyond capturing the adventures flickering through my sleeping circuits. As youth's writing is wont to do, the manuscripts ranged from breaking the 4th wall with hilariously contrived dialogue to overwrought sentences and bewildering plotlines. What's the story behind your latest book?
Awakening is a potent tale of self-discovery. It evokes freedom and introspection. It explores destiny. It causes us to re-examine what it means to be ourselves. It talks about the grandeur of human endeavor, and the ways our limitations shape the future. It probes our aching need for purpose in life, and it follows that insatiable quest for meaning through the process of questioning and disillusion. Awakening speaks to the spark in all of us, with a single powerful message: that a great destiny awaits, if only we allow ourselves to become great.

Seize your freedom with Larin. Dare the unknown with Tirrok. Cease your waiting with Kingard. Accept the unplanned with Vithril. Commit to greatness with Jorn. Experience this gripping fantasy adventure and discover yourself within. [ Read more at http://DNFrost.com/Awakening ]
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
My inspiration: Human greatness. I love that thrill in your heart when the good guy wins. I love kindling that inborn sense of glory about the human condition. I want to trigger that inner sense of grandness through my characters and their endeavors, giving my fans the ride of their lives. You can learn a lot about people by how they rise to challenges and integrate past experiences. My characters endure desperate scenarios, the shock of culture clashes, and outrageous social structures, slogging through the trenches of life and still advancing from a cosmic perspective.

Any facet of human imperfection can be explored, understood, and redeemed in the hearts of readers. I want my characters to lead by example, stoking pride in the strength of mankind and inspiring people to look for the magic in their own lives. I want my books to heal old wounds, impart wisdom, and reawaken the youthful wonder dormant inside so many of us. We all are human, and we've all felt the high-flying grandeur of a profound story. I love feeling like I'm in the hands of a master storyteller, and I believe you deserve that as you read my saga. [ Read more at http://DNFrost.com/about ]
